Moxifloxacin (Vigamox) Drug informationMoxifloxacin ophthalmic (eye) solution is used to treat infections of the eye, such as bacterial conjunctivitis. Moxifloxacin belongs to a group of medicines called fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria that cause conjunctivitis. Possible Side Effects Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Rash or itching around your eyes.
Severe redness, pain, or swelling that was not there before you started using the medicine. If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Dry eyes.
- Mild blurred vision.
- Mild burning or stinging in the eyes.
- More tears or crusting than usual in your eye.
- Red eyelids.
Warnings Do not wear contact lenses while you are using this medicine, unless your doctor says it is okay. Drugs and Foods to Avoid Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Make sure your doctor knows if you are using any other antibiotic medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine or drops in your eyes. What happens if I miss a dose? Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and apply the next one as directed.
